Our Administration Has Constructed Over 600 Km Roads, Says Aregbesola
Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the State of Osun, on Friday March 14, 2014 disclosed that his administration has constructed over 600 kilometers of roads in the last three years.
Aregbesola disclosed this at the opening of a two-day international workshop organized by the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors in Osogbo, Capital of the State.
Represented by the Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Honuorable Muyiwa Ige, Aregbesola said that the state government under his leadership was also planning to build 5,000 houses in the next two years in a bid to ameliorate the state economy.
Aregbesola who commended the institute for organizing such workshop promised to continue to encourage professionalism for quality output.
In his lecture, a former President of the Institute, Mr Segun Ajanlekoko who spoke on the topic; “Effective Cost Management of Infrastructural Development as a Sine Qua Non for Growth in Emerging Economy” backed establishment of Construction Development Bank to ensure rapid development of the country’s infrastructures.
Ajanlekoko further explained that it would enable government to provide vibrant financing culture, just as he stressed the need for constant and sustainable cost management by surveyors.
He emphasized the need for partnership between government, construction industries, private sector and Nigerian international partners for the country to achieve its goal of becoming one of the twenty economies of the world by the year 2020.
Earlier, the National President of the Institute, Mallam Muritala Aliyu called for people’s massive participation in the decision making process for Nigeria to regain its pride amongst the comity of nations.
