We Don’t Have A Plan To Ban Okada Says Aregbesola
Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the State of Osun on Monday debunked the rumour peddling around by the disgruntled elements over the alleged plan to ban commercial motorcyclists also known as Okada in the state, after emerging as the Governor for the second term under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) on August 9.
Aregbesola who spoke to cross section of newsmen at state house during a congratulatory visit by the leaders of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, over his emergency as party’s gubernatorial standard bearer in theAugust 9 election.
The Governor stated that; ‘’the state has no such plan. He said there is dignity in labour, adding that it’s a way of engaging in productive act and denying of being used by unscrupulous politicians for selfish interest”
According to the Governor, the motorcyclists are responsible people who are bread winners of their various families, saying though the high rate of unemployment in the country may be the reason why many had resulted into Okada business, in order to keep body and soul together.
The Governor reiterated that the state is committed to the welfare of the people and would not engage in any policy that will bring untold hardship to the people.
He enjoined members of the public to discredit any rumor, capable of generating unhealthy thoughts, towards August 9 governorship election in the state.
He thanked the party members for the confidence and the opportunity given to him as the party flag bearer in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
Aregbesola, however, urged all Osun people to come out en masses in the August 9 governorship election to exercise their civic right by voting his government for continue developments in the state.
