Osun Set To Increase Apiary
The Osun Government on Friday said it had acquired 10.7 hectares valued N2.4million for apiary at Oyan, Odo Otin Local Government.
Muyiwa Ige, Commissioner for Land, Physical Planning and Urban Development, announced this at the presentation of cheque to Arogun family at the palace of Oloyan of Oyan as compensation for the land.
Ige said the state government acquired the land for a meaningful agricultural project that would boost the state’s economy.
He urged residents of the area to take ownership of the factory when established so that the aim of floating it would not be defeated.
He explained that the state government decided to establish the factory in order to reduce the growing rate of youth unemployment.
Dr Ogundipe Bamidele, Coordinator of Quick Impact Intervention Programme (QIIP), said the government was investing in the project to make the state a hub for honey production.
Ogundipe expressed optimism that the project would soon be completed.
The Oloyan of Oyan, Oba Kilaani Oyedare, lauded the administration’s achievements so far.
Responding on behalf of the Arogun family, Chief Ibitoye Omotoso commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola for fulfilling his campaign promises.
Omotoso assured the government of the family’s readiness to contribute its own quota to the success of the project.
