
National Para-soccer Tourney: Kano, Osun Battle For Pride
The defending champions, of the National Para-soccer Tournament, Kano Pillars, yesterday continued their winning streak at the on-going 3rd National Para-soccer Tournament in Abuja with a 5-3 defeat of the Katsina Spotlight in the semi-final to set up a final show-down against Osun State.
Osun’s Prime Para-soccer Squad, who are the surprise package in the tournament, defeated hard-fighting El-Kanemi Warriors of Borno via penalty after a goal-less draw in their semi-final pairing.
The Warriors, one of the pre-tournament favourites, could harldy hold their own against a vibrant Osun side determined to make name for themselves and do their state proud.
Eager to retain their trophy and make it a back-to-back win, Pillars, have to battle the vivacious Osun side who have made known their intention to take the trophy home fom the beginning of the tournament.
The desire to win the trophy, against all odds, according to the Osun team, is to reward their state governor, Rauf Aregbosola, for his overwhelming support for the team.
The final match, which will hold today at the indoor sports hall of Package ‘B’ of the National Stadium, Abuja, has all the markings of a thrilling encounter; both sides have their pride to play for.
