Aregbesola Distributes Relief Materials to Disaster Victims
In a bid to bring succour and relief to those inhabitants of the State who were affected by various environmental hazards such as fire and flood disasters, the Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola has approved some relief materials worth N5million to the affected victims whose property were damaged one way
or the other.
Ogbeni Aregbesola who was represented by the General Manager, Osun State Emergency Management Agency, TPL Oluyemi Olanipekun Olarewaju delivered the relief materials to the affected victims at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Bureau of Lands, State Secretariat, Osogbo.
The Governor explained that, the State felt the need to assist the affected victims by donating building materials such as iron sheets, nails, mattress, soap and food stuffs.
Aregbesola said that with thirty-two (32) people benefitting from the first phase, he advised them to make use of the materials to alleviate their suffering caused by the havoc wrecked through disaster. The Governor warned them to do away with anything that may lead to further disaster in their area.
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Manager, Osun State Emergency Management Agency, TPL Oluyemi Olarewaju thanked the Governor for approving the sum of #5million worth of relief materials to the affected victims. He also lauded the Governor for, putting in place a drainage and expansion of water ways as well as sensitization
programme in the State.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Asimiyu Oladapo, a resident of Dada Estate, Osogbo appreciated the Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for the kind gesture aimed at in relieving them from their suffering as a result of the disaster. He explained that this will go a long way in aiding their needs.
Highlights of the event were the distribution of the relief materials to the affected victims across the State.
