How Ede North Area Council Localised Development
On the 6th March, 2016, the Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola announced the creation of 31 new Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), three Areas Councils and two Administrative offices to complement the existing 30 Local Government Areas and one Area office in the state.
The newly created councils were carved out of the existing ones to enhance good governance, allow the views of the minorities to be taken into account and the voices of the most venerable to be heard in decision making and also to be responsible to the present and future needs of the society, particularly at the grassroot level.
Amongst the newly-created Area Councils is the Ede North Area Council, Owode-Ede, which, originally was of Ede North Local Government. The newly carved out council has its Headquarter at Owode-Edeand it is headed by a Council Manager, Pharmacist Olatunde Oluleti.
Governor Aregbesola approved the release of take-off grant to the newly-created council in the state and stabilization funds to the existing Local Government Areas and upon the receipt of the take-off grant the management of Ede North Area Council swung into action.
The following, according to a statement by the Information Officer of the council, Olukemi Olayiwola, constitutes the projects executed by the Ede North Area Council within the short period that Pharmacist Oluleti held forth in the council.
Projects Executed
Among the projects executed by the Oluleti administration were, the face-lifting and renovation, of the proposed Ede North Area Council, Secretariat complex; purchase of office equipments, grading of the following roads, which included Olu of Owode palace road (Phases I,II and III); Owode Slaughter Slab (Abattoir) road; Owode Community Primary school Road; Iso-Isu/Alusekere Road (phase III); Iso-Isu/Alusekere Road (phase II); Powerline, Housing Estate Road Ede (phase I and II); Iso-Isu, Ede (phase I and II) road; Olu-Isu/Alusekere Road (phase I); and Alusekere Road, Ede.
Other successes recorded were the sinking of motorized borehole at Owode-Ede Market; sinking of motorized borehole at Iso-Isu, Irepodun community-Ede; taking full possession of Agbale Abere Housing by scheming out illegal occupants through legal means; construction of a new generator house; purchase of sanitary equipment and purchase of essential materials like, Rain Coats, Rain boots, search light, whistles among others.
