Osun Govt. Charges Schools on Sports Promotion

State government of Osun says the huge investment in high schools is not only for academic improvement but to produce tomorrow’s world leaders who will take active part in nation building.

 
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Mr. Festus Olajide stated this in Ejigbo during the maiden edition of the Inter-House Athletic
competition of Wole Soyinka High School, Ejigbo.
The Permanent Secretary, who was represented at the event by Mrs Stella Adebagbo described sports as a unifying factor, which apart
from improving the healthy living of students, is also capable of putting the body and mind in good shape for proper academic
assimilation.
He reminded the gathering that Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has always been a sport loving governor, hence the advocacy for sporting activities by the Governor through the walk-to-live programme of the administration.
Mr. Olajide further assured that all high schools built by Ogbeni Aregbesola will go a long way in improving students’ cognitive,
affective and psycho motor domains of learning.
Earlier in their separate remarks, Principal of Wole Soyinka High School Ejigbo, Mr. Rasheed Kareem and the School’s Administrator, Mrs Ayopeju Njideaka described the inter house sports of the school as a means of harnessing and polishing sporting talents in the students with a view to catching them young.
Mr. Kareem and Mrs Njideaka lauded Ogbeni Aregbesola’s investments in the state-of-the-art schools across the state, promising to maintain the high standard of the school.
There were goodwill messages from the Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon. Najeem Salam, Chief Imam of Ejigbo, Sheik Suleiman Omotokese, Prof. Mojeed Alabi among others.
At the end of the event, Alhaji Omotokese, green house emerged the overall winner, Hannah Adeke Oloyede, yellow house came 2nd while
Zubayr Alabi, purple house came third.
