GOVERNOR ADELEKE HAS REPOSITIONED OSUN MINING SECTOR- SPECIAL ADVISER

Governor Ademola Adeleke has repositioned the mining sector in Osun State as his administration has cleared all accumulated service charges inherited from previous administration

Special adviser to the governor on mining, Professor Lukman Jìmódá stated this on a sensitization programme on OSBC Radio and Television channels, tagged, IMOLE AYO.

The programme is put in place by the office of the spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed to promote the activities of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration in Osun State

Professor Jìmódá revealed that the state lost billions of Naira that should have been earned as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to illegal miners due to mismanagement.

The special adviser listed the effect of illegal mining activities in the state under the previous administration to include water pollution, environmental degradation and income leakage.

He added that mining activities are now being well coordinated under the present administration in Osun State as a result of proper monitoring and regular visits to mining sites by relevant state officials while the governor is providing necessary support in terms of funding and other logistics

According to the special adviser, a white paper on mining which the present administration will use to address the water and environmental pollution caused by mining activities will soon be released.

It would be recalled that on assumption of office, Governor Ademola Adeleke set up a committee under the chairmanship of Professor Lukman Jìmódá, to review the activities of illegal miners across the state.
