TEXT OF A SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE GOVERNOR OF OSUN STATE, SENATOR ADEMOLA ADELEKE AT THE PASSING OUT PARADE OF AMOTEKUN TRAINEES TODAY MARCH 28TH, 2025

PROTOCOLS

It is my pleasure to address this fresh crop of Amotekun trainees. Today is a landmark event as our reform of the Amotekun service is yielding desired fruits.

In our determination to fully secure our dear state, our administration opted to deepen the personnel structure and capacity of the security service. We ensured the appointment of a new leadership with vast knowledge in security operations and law enforcement.

Our administration then provided a befitting operational headquarters for the service to serve as coordinating point. I am glad to note that the new leadership designed a reform agenda that the administration is now implementing.

Details of the reform initiative include the expansion of the total number of personnel, upgraded training in law enforcement, and expansion of operational equipment and logistics for the service. Full implementation of the plans will strengthen the capacity of the Amotekun service to fulfill its mandate.

Today, we are gathered here to see the outcome of the implementation process. We have a new set of fully trained, operationally ready service personnel. This is the first batch of trainees. More of this training will be held in the near future.

In line with our administration’s commitment to the security of lives and properties, I assure the leadership and the rank and file of the service that our administration is focussed on full execution of the upgrade agenda. We will provide you with the required tools to work.

I am also glad to note that the service now has a sound legal framework. The amended law has removed loopholes in the previous enactment. Under the new legal structure, the service has a full range of opportunities to be a rewarding member of the security architecture.

As part of legal reforms, the service is also to be considered as a beneficiary in the planned security trust fund. Once the trust fund takes off, Amotekun service will also be enabled to access logistic support, among others.

As a security expert myself, I know your needs as an organisation, and I assure you that your requests for vehicles, bikes, and other operational equipment will be looked into immediately.

I, however, want to charge the new trainees to demonstrate patriotic commitment to the service. You must be a dedicated anti- crime fighter. You must avoid corruption and other conducts that violate the law. You are expected to be a good ambassador of the service in your daily operation.

To the leadership of the service, you should continue the implementation of the reform without let or hindrance. The service must be more visible in various corners of the state. You are to also clean up the internal structure of the service. You should feel free to weed out any personnel whose agenda is contrary to the mandate of the service.

Additionally, the leadership of the service must maintain internal and external synergy. Internally, the leadership must be united to pursue the agency mandate. Your management practices must be all-inclusive and goal-oriented.

Externally, the service leadership must ensure close synergy in operational matters with other security agencies. Amotekun service must work jointly and closely with the police, the DSS, and other security agencies. This is a must as all agencies have the same goal of crime free Osun State.

I salute the men and women of the Amotekun service, especially the training who are passing out today.

I wish you the best in the service of the state.

Long Live Osun, the state of the living spring

Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria
