Osun Assembly Order OSSCE Ila To Reinstate Staff

The State of Osun House of Assembly has directed the office of Higher Education to embark on physical assessment of reinstatement and reintegration of disengaged staff members of the tertiary institutions to ascertain the level of compliance with government directive.

Chairman House Committee on Education, Folorunso Bamisayemi gave the directive last Tuesday at an interactive meeting with the management of the Osun State College of Education Ila-Orangun at the House of Assembly Complex Osogbo.
Bamisayemi said the meeting was called to know the progress of the reinstatement of the disengaged staff members of the college.
According to him “as a responsible and responsive committee, we call this meeting to know how well things are in the College”.
“We discovered that the school governing council did not comply with the state governor’s directive on the reinstatement of some of the institution’s staff, especially the school librarian who was relief of his job” he added.
He who also noted that the report indicating that the college Authority has not fully complied with the directive cited the case of an individual who according to him was just being punished unduly.
He has instructed the Ministry of Education to go round and put things to order in the college.
Bamisayemi frowned at the decision of the management and governing council of the institution on the disengaged staff.
However, in his reaction, the Board Chairman of the College, Chief Niyi Akande who was represented by Hon. Yinusa Akintola attributed the situation to the case which is still in court.
He also added that the governing council has not yet met since the reinstatement order by the state governor.
In his response, the provost of the college, Prof. Isaac Oyewole said the management is not witch-hunting any staff of the college, but rather trying to sanitise the system.
He also added that when there is a directive to reinstate the disengaged staff members, the management had to verify and make due consultations from the governing council.
He promised that all these issues would be sorted out this week at the council meeting.
In their separate remarks, other members of the committee, Hon. Abiodun Awolola urged the Governing Council and the School Management to adhere to the state government’s directive for peace to reign in the college.
