Agency Profile
Office of Transportation was created from the Ministry of Works and Transport on 11th November, 2013, which was formerly a Department of Transportation in the said Ministry. The Agency is responsible for free flow of traffic on all roads in the State through enforcement of Traffic Laws 2008 as amended 2011, and further performs the following major functions amongst others:
- Collaborates with other law enforcement Agencies in ensuring free flow of traffic in Osun State (like FRSC, Police, DSS, NSCDC) and Sensitizing members of the public on the need for safety on all roads e.g. Aabo loju popo and Road Show (Ember months programme)
- Educating Drivers, Motorists and the general public on the proper use of the Highways (through workshops & meetings held with them and visits to Motor Parks).
- Registration of Motor Vehicles, issuing and renewing licenses for Commercial and private vehicles;
- Conduct Research on Drivers’ behavior and Traffic Safety with a view to bringing effective and efficient safety improvement;
- Regulate and conduct Vehicle Inspection Tests and Certification of Road Worthiness of Vehicles;
- Register and regulate the conduct of Driving Schools in the State;
Objectives Of the Ministry
The Objectives of the Agency are
- Monitoring and maintenance of Public Facilities and Utilities;
- Regulate public transportation which include Road, Rail, Air and Waterways;
- Registration of Motor Vehicles, issuing and renewing licenses for Commercial and private vehicles;
- Supervise and control State Division Petrol Pumps;
- Ensure traffic control, enforces State and National Laws that govern the safe use of vehicles registered in the State of Osun;
- 6Eucate and sensitize Drivers, Motorists and the general public on the proper use of the Highways;
- Conduct Research on Drivers’ behaviours and Traffic Safety with a view to bringing effective and
- Efficient safety improvement;
- Register and regulate the conduct of Driving Schools in the State of Osun;
- Regulate and conduct Vehicle Inspection Tests and Certification of Road Worthiness of Vehicles;
- Design and enforce the use of Bus-Stops and Bus Terminals;
- Identify, Develop, Promote and Maintain alternative method of Traffic Management and Road Safety;
- Cooperate with bodies, Agencies of Groups engaged in Road safety activities in the prevention of Accidents on Highways;
- Determine Works and |Devices designed to improve “Traffic Flow” with a view to advising
- Civil Engineers on the locations where such works and devices are required;
- Set Monitoring and Enforcement of Standards and Guidelines on Vehicular emissions.

VEHICLE INSPECTION SERVICE UNIT (Vehicle Inspection Officers
– Inspection of Commercial and Private Vehicles for roadworthiness
– Issuance of Road Worthiness Certificate
– Accident Vehicle Inspection / Reporting (giving evidence in court)
– Inspection and reports to the Police (of accidents)
– Identification and supervision of Road Traffic Signs and Markings
– Location of bus stops in conjunction with the Local Government Authority

– Testing of Candidate for Driving Licenses
