HON-ADEYENI-OLUSEGUN-BUSOLA-199×300

HON-ADEYENI-OLUSEGUN-BUSOLA-199x300 Assembly man,  Hon.Busola Adeyeni representing Ife-East in Osun State has pleaded with Nigerians who are living in other countries to invest in their country.

He made the plea in an interview with NAN on Saturday, April 25, in Ile-Ife.

Hon. Adeyeni expressed concerns about the attitudes of some Nigerians abroad who, somewhat, abandoned and neglected their home country just for mere luxury of living.

He also urged them to always come home to celebrate annual festivals which he said could give them the opportunity to interact and make investment plans.

It is not a crime to be a sojourner in a foreign land but it is a crime not to have a foresight for the future,’’ He said.

He cited the violence in South Africans in which some foreigners were killed, expressing worry that some Nigerians might be unwilling to come back because of what to do to earn a living where they had not invested.

He, therefore, urged them to be visiting their country at least once in a year for identification and investment with whatever they have achieved in foreign land.

He also appealed to governments to provide adequate provision in all sectors such as education, health, agriculture, employment for youths, modern infrastructure, among others.

Adeyeni called on all Nigerians living abroad to come home and contribute their own quota to the development of the country.

Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has denied plans to stop feeding of school children by his administration.
The Governor was reacting to a story published by a national daily where it claimed that the Governor might stop the programme based on the recommendation by labour leaders.
Aregbeshola in a statement made by his media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, said the programme, which had attracted commendations, would not be stopped despite the falling of allocation accruing to the state.

Labour leaders, under the umbrella of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, came up with the recommendation of stopping free meal among other suggestions made to the governor on how to increase the state’s internally generated revenue.

The Governor said, “OMEALs  has been one of our most socially impactful programmes. How can a responsible government like ours think of reviewing a programme that has been adjudged as one of the best to come out of the country? Does that not stand logic on its head?
“We have been able to improve our state’s economy through the school feeding of over 250, 000 pupils every school day. The programme has directly employed 3,007 women and over tens of thousands of farmers in the state.
“Osun is attracting local and international attention for implementing an initiative that has not only increased enrollment in its primary schools, but has also provided jobs for farmers, majority of whom are women.”
He said that enrollment of pupils increased from 155,318 on May 31 to 194,253 by June 30, 2012, and December 2012
Based on the increase in enrollment, Aregbesola said the government decided to extend the programme to cover pupils in primaries 1 to 4, bringing the total number of pupils being fed to over 252,000.

Certificate of Return - 3Against the backdrop of the recently concluded general elections, the Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has called on Nigerians to guard democracy jealously for the development of the country.
The governor made this appeal during a broadcast in Osun titled, “‎Watering the tree of democracy with love and determination” on Sunday.
He commended the people of Osun for their conduct before, during and after the elections, saying Osun is among states in the country that recorded few incidents during the period of elections.
The governor also noted that the people of the state in no small measure contributed to the emergence of the President-elect, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, “The pattern, shape and the result are indications of your diligent planting and nurture of the tree of democracy in the past 16 years; and the buds of its early fruits.
“Election is now assuming its true definition as political empowerment for the people. With your voter’s card, you now determine those who rule over you and make laws for the government of the country and your state.
“This is the most critical first test of democracy since 1999, a free and fair election in which the people choose their leaders, and you have passed it in flying colours.
“I congratulate you for this historic achievement. What we need to do now is to guard it jealously and build on this solid foundation the superstructure of productivity, development, security and life more abundant for all”. The governor emphasised.
‎Aregbesola stated that for Osun to be aligning with other progressive states to vote for a progressive president, the state has helped to realise the dream of Chief Obafemi Awolowo by setting the country on an unstoppable path of greatness.
He reiterated that his government in Osun will be a people-centred government that will provide security, jobs and good life for the people.
The governor assured the people of the state that the president-elect will put the wealth of the nation to use and develop Nigeria to an enviable height among the committee of Nations.
He said, “Let me congratulate the winners for their deserved victory and the losers for keen sportsmanship and belief in the democratic system.
“In a free and fair contest, a winner must emerge. The winners therefore should regard the mandate given to them as sacred and serve their people with honour and integrity, knowing that in four years’ time, they will be required to give account of their stewardship.
“The losers too should be gallant and take seriously the reasons why they were not preferred by the voters and use the next four years to do their homework in the hope that they will have a better outing at the next round of elections,” he noted.
‎The governor expressed regrets that some candidates in the bid to gain unfair advantage or manipulate the outcome had to unleash violence on the people.
Aregbesola noted that the reports of violence and malpractices before, during and after the election, no matter how small, shall be revisited, saying that those that have breached the laws of the land will be brought to justice.

“My heartfelt condolences go to the families of the bereaved. We are building a peaceful new nation characterised by law and order, where every life is sacred and where safety of lives and property is guaranteed.

“This new nation has no place for violence, brigandage, cheating, injustice and impunity. More importantly, no one will get into any elective office through cheating, violence, intimidation, thuggery and manipulation”.

IBA RALLY (3)

IBA RALLY (3)The Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has commended the people of Ife-North Local Government of the State for their massive support and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 28 elections which culminated in the victory of the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari.‎

In a statement by the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, the governor was quoted as speaking during his commendation visit and shoring of supports for the House Assembly candidates of the APC in the state in the area.

It was in continuation of the governor and his party’s efforts to ensure a repeat of the massive vote for the APC in the presidential poll on March 28.

The campaign team criss-crossed towns like; Ipetumodu, Edun-Abon, Okuuomoni, Famia, Onibambu, Oyere-Aborisade, Modakeke, among other notable towns in Ife-North local government of the state.

He described their love for APC as unprecedented stressing that the area is known as pro-Obafemi Awolowo even in the face of frustration, political molestation, assault and monetary inducements.

He held that the people of the areas have written their names in gold in the political history of the State, adding that their rare passions and supports to his administration can never be forgotten.

The governor frowned at the way and manner in which PDP and its loyalists went about inducing people with money and other items before, during and after the elections, describing such act as barbaric to modern democratic principle and values.

According to him, ” I want to use this occasion to congratulate all of us on the success of our party, the APC at the last presidential and National assembly elections. We thank God that the change we have been waiting for has come.

“I also want to commend and thank you for the way you trooped out for the March 28 elections which gave victory to General Muhammadu Buhari and our representatives to the National Assembly.

“Our people should be commended for standing tall despite the intimidation and the inducement of the PDP before and during the elections. Our people are wise, some of us collected their Dollars and still did not vote for them, while majority rejected them with their Dollars.

“We must come out en-mass on April 11 to vote for our candidates to the House of Assembly like we did during the presidential election, a vote for APC on Saturday will be a vote for stability and continuity in Osun.

“You must all ensure that you vote all our candidates, by doing so, you are voting for more positive transformation of the state and the continued development of infrastructure the state has been witnessing in the past four years”. The governor told the gathering at the campaign ground.

Aregbesola pledged to fulfill all his electioneering campaign promises to the people of the areas as soon as the earning of the states improves.

Free Train 2014 Xmas-3The Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on Sunday said the Easter season offers Nigerians especially Christians a good opportunity to pray for the take-off of a new beginning that would usher in prosperity in all facets of national life.

The governor also charged the Osun people to embrace love and peace and make the necessary sacrifice towards the development of the country.

The governor, in his Easter message to Nigerians which was signed by the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, urged Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the President-elect, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, to bring the positive change to Nigeria.

Aregbesola stated that what the country needs at this time are various intercessory prayers for God to continuously stabilise the country.

……as Osun monarch congratulates colleagues who rejected “Dollar” inducement

The Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has on Monday said the Victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and that of Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari at the just concluded presidential election should be ascribed to God and not any single individual.

Aregbesola in a statement by the Director Bureau of Communication and Strategy Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, was quoted as speaking when a group of royal fathers paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Osogbo the state capital.

‎The royal fathers of Osun commended some of the monarchs who refused to be tempted by the alleged last minute distribution of foreign currencies by the ruling party to sway votes for its candidate.

The group of traditional rulers was led by the Akinrun of Ikirun, Oba Abdul Rauf Adedeji to the Government House to congratulate Aregbesola and offer prayers on the victory of APC and it’s candidate at the last Presidential election.

Aregbesola stated that no man on earth should ascribe the success and the outcome of the election to himself, but all praises to the Lord who in His infinite mercies granted Nigeria a peaceful election.

He noted that there is nothing new that the Progressives have done this time that is better than what the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and the acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election did.

According to him, “sixty-three years ago, politicians who were of the view of a political climate that will give life abundantly to the people did all they could but they were unable to achieve their desire. Despite all their struggle and the will to give a better leadership could not make it to the presidency.

“After the first attempt by Obafemi Awolowo and others came the advent of Moshood Abiola when Nigerian voted and he won but never become the president of the country. Here we are today, the victory is still looking to me as a dream. All the glory ‎must be given to the Lord”.

The governor commended the doggedness and the fighting spirit of Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu and the former governor of Osun, Chief Bisi Akande at ensuring that the Yoruba get their votes for a central government for the first time in 63 years.

He also congratulated governors of APC, both serving‎ and former saying after God, APC leaders in all the states of the federation and party faithful deserves commendation.

Aregbesola charged traditional rulers in Yorubaland to take seriously the development of their areas, noting that God has endowed them with the power to make sure that they at all time seek the development of their God’s given domains.

He said, ” I am particularly happy that the Yoruba is no longer in the opposition. This is the first time in 63 years that this is happening in the history of Nigeria.

“No Yoruba born or alive in this dispensation should not be happy. It is the first time that Yoruba will have a government that the majority of the people wanted. I will only pray that God will make this government have impact on our region.

“I charge all of us in the South-West and Nigerians alike to make sure that we get it right this time”. The governor told the Monarchs.

Speaking earlier, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abul-Rasheed Olabomi congratulated Osun indigenes and Nigerians on the victory of APC and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and prayed that the much awaited change will come to people in no distant time.

The Monarch who spoke on behalf of all the Monarchs also congratulated their colleagues who refused to be induced by the “hard currencies” distributed to some by the ruling party before the elections.

He expressed delight that the prediction of Chief Obafemi Awolowo that Nigeria will be better of when the finest of the Progressives of the Northern part of Nigeria come together with the Yoruba has come to fulfilment.

“This is the first time in the history of our Nation where the general wish of the Yoruba will come to pass in terms of selecting for Nigeria. I want to use this opportunity to say a big congratulation to the Yorubaland”.

The royal fathers in attendance included: Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Asiru Olatoye Olaniyan, Akinrun of Ikirun, Oba AbdulRauf Adedeji, Elerin of Erin-Osun, Oba Yusuf Omoloye, Olunisa of Inisa, Oba Oladunjoye Oyedele and Olokuku of Okuku, Oba Abioye Oyebode.

Others are, Oloyan of Oyan, Oba Kilani Adekeye, Obajio of Moore Ile-Ife, Oba Yaya Olugbaju, Onirun of Okeirun, Oba Isaac Adetoyi Adetunlurese, Eleko Ende of Eko-Ende, Oba Rauf Adebayo and Oloosi of Osi. Oba Solomon Ademakinwa among others.
