olunloyoA former governor of the old Oyo state, Dr Omololu Olunloyo has described the Governor of Osun state Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as a visionary leader worthy of emulation by all particularly the political office holders.

Dr Olunloyo stated this at the palace of Timi of Ede land, when the Aregbesola campaign train paid a homage to the traditional ruler.

He described as excellent the Opon Imo project, saying it is capable of revitalising the education standard.

The former governor who noted that he could not believe his eyes at the sight of the level of transformation on his way to the state, said the governor has indeed made a name for himself as the peoples governor.

Olunloyo thereafter enjoined the people of the state not to sell their votes in the forthcoming governorship election.

“Aregbesola is always willing to work for the development of his people especially the yoruba race because he has taken tutelage from Bola Tinubu for eight years.”

“I so much admire the “Opon Imo” project of Aregbesola because after studying the device I know that it can go a long way in revitalising education in the state.”

“I can say it with all boldness that Aregbesola is the best and the most innovative Governor in the south-west and I am so happy to be associated with this.”

Commissioning0Ayegbaju0Market-5Osun State governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, recently commissioned the multibillion naira Ayegbaju market, in Osogbo, saying the welfare of the people of the state, irrespective of religious or political affiliations, would remain paramount to his administration.

Promising to do more if reelected on August 9, he charged the electorate to vote All Progressive Congress, APC, in the forthcoming poll to sustain the gains the party has recorded through his administration in the last four years.

Aregbesola, speaking during the commissioning of two phases of the market, said despite daring financial challenges facing the state, his government would not be deterred, but would continued executing programmes that would have direct and positive impacts on the state.

He described the successful construction of the market as a testimony that his administration has achieved more than his predecessor in office.

Commending the people for supporting his government in the quest to fast track development of the state, he said the acceptability of his programmes and projects has continued to motivate him to do more.

Regional Integration and Special Duties Commissioner, Barr. Ajibola Basiru, who commended Governor Aregbesola’s vision at transforming the state, noted that government planned to also construct same type of market at Ilesa and Ile-Ife, adding that the Atakumosa market at Ilesa and Oranmiyan market, Ile-Ife will be transformed to international markets during the second term of Aregbesola’s administration.

The developer of the market, Engr. Reactions in Ikirun –

Reactions in Ikirun -Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has stated that he was a product of the people of Osun State, enthusing that “they will still return me for a second term in office to continue our administration’s good work.”
Aregbesola, while speaking with Daily Sun in Osogbo at the weekend said with confidence said, “the people, who produced me to serve them will not desert me on Saturday, August 9,” adding: “They elected me to do what I am doing now and will want me to continue.” Speaking further, the Ilesha-born APC candidate, in retrospective, took a critical look at his performance over three years in office and declared authoritatively that, “there is no household in this community that our programmes have not affected positively.”
Citing an example, the governor mentioned free feeding of primary school pupils, saying “it is one of our programmes that do not discriminate, whether you are Muslim, Christian, pagan, APC, PDP and SDP to mention but just a few.” He reminded that his administration had a periodic programme tagged “walk for life,” saying, it was one of the avenue for a servant to test his acceptability and popularity amongst the people. Aregbesola explained that a lot of people partook in the exercise, with the sole aim to interact with their governor.
He added that the way they trooped out to be with their elected governor was an indication that they still loved him and would continue to love him. Against this backdrop, Aregbesola said he never dreamt that what happened in Ekiti State on June 21 would ever happen in Osun State, exuding confidence that, “by the grace of God, we will win and win well.

AREGBESOLA

AREGBESOLAOsun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has described the alleged refusal of the Federal Government to release a short security call code to the state as dangerous and unfortunate.

Aregbesola told journalists in Oshogbo at the weekend that the state had constructed an Emergency Security Centre, where calls could be directed for assistance and rescue operations in case of any emergency, saying what remained for the centre to function was a short security code approval from the Federal Government.

The governor, who said his efforts to obtain the code were futile, suspected that the Federal Government was not well disposed to the release of the vital code.

He stated that a letter to that effect was first forwarded to the Presidency and when there was no acknowledgement, he wrote a reminder which, he said, was also ignored.

The governor disclosed that with the code, a helicopter could touch down anywhere in the state within 15 minutes to identify crisis spots with a view to mobilising security personnel to the spot.

Warning against politicising every issue, Aregbesola asserted that, “security threat does not discriminate,” adding that once anybody won an election, such person automatically became the leader of the electorate.

He pointed out that if the security centre had been functional, the young journalists who died recently along Ife Road could have survived the accident if help had reached them in time.

The governor, therefore, urged well-meaning Nigerians to appeal to President Goodluck Jonathan to use his good offices to effect the issuance of the code.

Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has challenged his archival in the August 9 governorship election in the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to an open debate.

Aregbesola, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said none of the governorship candidates in the state could match him.

The governor, who spoke at the commissioning of Aiyegbaju International Market, Osogbo, said he possesed an intimidating credential, which none of his opponents could beat.

Besides, the governor challenged the governorship candidates of Labour Party (LP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Fatai Akinbade and Segun Akinwusi respectively, to make their manifestoes open to the masses.

Aregbesola said the PDP had no basis to campaign, insisting that the party abused its opportunity when it was in power for seven and a half years.

He said the PDP governorship candidate would fail as his party did not execute any meaningful project while in control of the state’s resources.

The APC flagbearer said none of the projects embarked upon by the PDP administration could stand the test of time.

His words: “Let us meet at an open debate and they will be disgraced out. Give us just one hour and see who among us will have the day.”

Aregbesola assured that he would turn Osogbo to the centre of commerce and industry in the South-West, saying the town was gradually assuming the real status of a state capital.

Federal Agencies Owe Osun N3.8bn In Taxes

The Acting Chairman/ Chief Executive Officer of the state’s Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Dayo Oyebanji, made this known to newsmen in Osogbo over the weekend.

He decried the attitude of the affected establishments over the development, describing the situation as ‘unfortunate’.

He said the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, has a liability of over N1.7bn, while OAUTHC, Ile-Ife, Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Immigration Service, State Security Service, the Customs, Prisons Service and others have liabilities to the tune of over N2bn.

Oyebanji added that some telecommunication companies that were distrained in past over non-payment of dues, had started making payments according to agreed terms and conditions.

“The attitude of the Federal Government towards the unprecedented infrastructural development in the nooks and crannies of the state, which is enough to serve as stimulus for federal government to respond to their statutory duty in the aspect of remittance of their outstanding tax liabilities in their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, is unfortunate.

“The fact is that Federal Government-owned higher institutions in the state, as a result of multiplier effects of Aregbesola’s Six Integral Action Plan, have become cynosure of all eyes across the country.

“Most of the federal tertiary institutions have benefited immensely from the improved development in terms of good and motorable roads in all the nooks and crannies of the state, coupled with the peace and tranquility which has attracted high influx of students’ enrolment in federal higher institutions within the state, this has induced Federal Government’s revenue generation through school fees, and paved way for its economic viability,” herevealed.

Oyebanji, however, admonished federal ministries, departments and agencies to clear all outstanding liabilities towards the state government, saying the agency would not hesitate to drag them before the court of law.
