PRESS STATEMENT

OSOGBO – 05/11/2023- osunstate.gov.ng

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke is devoting all his attentional resources to due process and the rule of law in the business of governance in the State, Special Adviser to the Governor on Legal Matters, Hon Hashim Abioye has declared.

Responding to insinuations by the superimposed National Secretary of the APC, Ajibola Basiru about the state of due process in the state, Abioye lampooned the APC chieftain as a politician suffering from delusional depression over the superlative performance of the Governor and the administration’s deep commitment to due process and observance of procurement laws amidst rule of law.

The Special Adviser said Bashiru who, out of perpetual pain of his electoral loss, has unceasingly embarked on verbal attacks on Governor Adeleke and his family, painting a false picture of the Governor being under the influence of his family, especially Chief Mrs Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, the Governor’s elder Sister.

In a statement issued in Osogbo on Sunday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legal Matters, Hon. Hashim Abioye, cautioned the Osogbo-born former Lawmaker to drop his insolence and to respect his present Office into which he was hurriedly packaged after he disgracefully lost his return bid to the National Assembly.

It is clear that Basiru was bitter at the peace and tranquility that is reigning within the Adeleke family, hence his many unfounded allegations and vituperations at a Governor who is delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Osun State.

Abioye also stated that since the coming on board of the Adeleke’s Administration, the Governor has not for once erred on the side of due process and rule of law. His statement reads:

“I wonder why the man popularly called SRJ who is notorious for insolence and uncouth words against elderly people doesn’t process his words properly before making his presentations in public, especially when it comes to the issue of Osun under Governor Adeleke. He has been so obsessed with hatred for Governor Adeleke and his family to the extent of desperately causing violence on an Eid Day, flagrantly disobeying protocols and obviously disrespecting the Governor. Since his plan to launch violence on Eid Day at Osogbo Prayer Ground failed, he has resorted to unjustified verbal attacks on Mr. Governor and his family.

While the man SRJ reserves the right to criticize the Adeleke’s Administration as a member of the opposition in Osun State, he should for once be constructive and objective instead of his usual arrogant rigmarole”.

Speaking further Abioye states that “Senator Ajibola Basiru was part of the Aregbesola’s Administration for 8 years in Osun who sat as a key member of the State Executive Council under his former Boss with whom he has now ungratefully picked a fight. This is someone who is reasonably expected to know that it is not possible for an individual to hijack the Governance of a State except under an indolent State Executive Council, and all democratic institutions in the State are no longer functioning. This is not the case with Osun.

“Governor Adeleke in his well-thought-out plans for the State always consults with his formidable team of experts in relevant fields and seeks necessary legal advice in line with due process before embarking on any program for the State. Doesn’t the man SRJ listen to Government Officials from various Agencies of Government about how transparently efficient and consultative-ly alert Governor Adeleke has been in running the affairs of the State?”

Abioye then advised Ajibola Basiru to come out open if he has any personal problem with the Governor’s Elder Sister, Yeye Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, especially with the kind of affectionate bond and love among the Adelekes who are renowned for always rallying around and supporting members of their family in all walks of life. “If SRJ treats his own family members with disgusting distancing like COVID-19, he shouldn’t expect reasonable people like the Adelekes to loathe their family members as SRJ does to his own family members”.

The Governor’s Aide therefore finally cautions Ajibola Basiru to change his petty style and find reasonable, constructive, and sensible means of criticizing the present Administration if his criticism will have any meaning.

Spokesperson to Governor Adeleke

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO – 01/22/2023 – Osunstate.gov.ng

Governor Ademola Adeleke acted within the requirements of the law in dissolving all statutory commissions almost a year after he assumed office.
Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi made this clarification .

In a reaction to news publications in respect of the dissolution,Hon Alimi said the Governor received the best legal advice before taking the decision, positing that the dissolved commissions suffered legal deficiencies in their making.

According to the Commissioner, the Commissions were set up under “the state of Osun”, a platform already declared illegal by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Against this backdrop,Alimi reiterated and also affirmed that the appointments were made under a law that has been nullified by a competent Court of law, which,by implication made those beneficiaries lacked the expected claim to immunity from dissolution by a Governor who is upholding only legal actions of the previous government.

It must also be added that the former Governor violated the stipulations of the law in the composition of some of the boards.

The law stipulated the types and manners of persons to be appointed into the commissions. By violating those requirements, the appointments were rendered null and void.

We can therefore assure all and sundry that the state government does not need tutoring from those who hope to benefit from obvious non-compliance perpetrated by the previous government.

We call on members of the dissolved commissions to accept the best wishes and commendation of the State Governor for their meritorious service to the state.

Oluomo kolapo Alimi,
Honourable Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO – 31/10/2023 – Osunstate.gov.ng

Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon Kolapo Alimi, has affirmed that the recently unveiled multi-billion Naira infra plan has strong sustainability components alongside strong adherence to due process and procurement laws.

Speaking while hosting the leadership of Coalition for Good Governance(C4GG) in his office today, the commissioner clarified that the government of Governor Ademola Adeleke complied with provisions of the law in the design and the ongoing implementation of the infra plan, noting that no procurement law is violated.

“Permit me to clarify that all projects listed in the plan were subjected to due process requirements. We invite the public to note that before the unveiling of the plan, the Ministry of Works has been implementing some intervention programmes across the state using direct labour.

“Those projects listed by Mr Governor are not covered by those intervention programmes. The infra plans are contractual projects whose advertisements for bid submissions are already published in compliance with due process.

“The public is also informed that the state has a supplementary budget preparatory to the submission of the 2024 appropriation proposals to the House of Assembly by Mr Governor. My point is that nothing is being done outside the law in line with Mr Governor’s mantra of due process, rule of law and fear of God.

“It is also important to at this point urge any group or individuals to seek more information if they so wish by applying the Freedom of Information Act. This administration is committed to free flow of information under an open governance model.

“We want to reiterate that the multi-billion naira infra plan is to be executed without loans from financial institutions. We affirm as the State Chairman of the PDP had said that the fund will come from savings, blockage of revenue leakages, expanded revenue base, refunds from federation accounts and reduction of the cost of governance. The plan is sustainable with a multiplier effect on the state economy.

“On behalf of Mr Governor and his entire cabinet, we thank Osun people home and abroad for the overwhelming approval of the infra plan. We also commend fellow Nigerians who appreciated the ingenuity and innovative thinking of the state government.

“To ensure delivery as planned, Mr Governor will soon inaugurate a monitoring team composed of individuals from the media and the civil society. This is to ensure value for money and quality assurance.

Speaking earlier, the Coordinator of the C4GG, Hon Tayo Adegbemile said the group was at the Commissioner’s office to brief the state government on its ongoing survey and monitoring of the state of governance in Osun state.

“During the Ipade Imole, we submitted a monitoring report to Mr Governor. We are now on the second phase. We are conducting a statewide survey ahead of the one year anniversary of the Adeleke administration”, Mr Adegbemile.

Oluomo Kolapo Alimi,
Honourable Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment
