Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, State of Osun ,has concluded arrangements to refund the sum of eleven thousand five hundred naira (#11,500.00) to each of the 2015 pilgrims .

Osun State Amir -ul-Hajj,  Barrister Zikrullahi Olakunle Hassan made this known to the public while featuring on a special programme on OSBC radio 104.5fm.

Barrister Hassan said the State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has approved and directed the board to refund #11,500.00 to each of the 2015 pilgrims on 6th of April this year.

He urged the concerned 2015 Pilgrims to come to board’s office at Governmrnt Secretariat ,Abere for the money.

He also advised Muslims who wish to perform this year’s hajj with Osun Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board to obtain their forms at the board office as preparations are in top gear to ensure hitch free hajj.

Amir Hajj therefore thanked the governor of the state for the support to the board at all times.

The Governor of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola  has charged the new Akinla of Erinjesha, Oriade local government area of the state , Oba Isaac Ayeni to work towards the development and progress of the town.

Aregbesola was speaking on Friday,  at the office presentation of staff of office and instruments of appointment to the new Akinla of Erin-ijesh.
Oba Ayeni was announced the new Akinla of Erin-ijesa few weeks ago by the Osun state government to ecstasy of the many indigens of the ancient town, after 17 and 17 days years without a king.

Aregbesola who was represented by the Secretary to the state government, Moshood Adeoti, called on all princes who contested for the throne to close ranks in the interest of development.
He urged the monarch to always pursue peace and rule with wisdom and fear of God.
The governor re-stated  his administration commitment to improving the economy of the state, stressing that the support of the traditional rulers is indeed needed to achieve ‎the feat.
The new Akinla of Erin-ijesha Oba Isaac Ayeni who was obviously  elated to have ascended the throne of his forefathers solicited  the support and cooperation of his subjects for the development of the town.
The monarch promised to lead his people to the part of positive economic and social transformation while indigenes of the town also pledged their loyalty to the new monarch.

 Oba Isaac Ayeni, Okin oloro the 2nd, is the 26th Akinla of Erinjesa.

He was selected by the kingmakers in 2012 to ascend the throne but his installation was stalled  for four year due to legal battle.

Filling Stations, banks and multinational companies in the state of Osun are now mandated to pay for Fire Safety Inspections, certification and other precautionary levies in line with national fire safety code.

This is contained in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) jointly signed by the state chairman, Task Force on Revenue Collection on Fire Services, Hon Oguntola Toogun , Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Home Affairs, Tourism and Culture, Mrs Olajumoke Bello, Director , Fire Services, Mr Michael Ogundipe and South West Head, Federal Fire Services, Mr S.A Aderemi and Officer in Charge of Federal Fire Service in Osun , Mrs B.O. Komolafe.
The MoU agreed that both Federal and State Fire Personnel would jointly organise and administer fire prevention and training of staff of organisations and establishments within the state.
Also, the Federal Fire Service is to carry out fire safety inspections, certification and others of NNPC stations and other Federal parastatals and establishments in the state.
The MoU further stated that the State Fire personnel are to carry out Fire Safety Inspections, certification and other levy collections in ALL establishments in the state except NNPC stations and Federal establishments. The inspection of multinational companies like GLO, MTN ,ETISALAT, banks and others WILL be done by the state fire personnel and that the sealing of premises that violate safety precautions as contained in the National Fire safety codes can be done by both Federal and State fire personnel.
The MoU therefore enjoined all filling stations , federal establishments and multinational organisations in the state to comply with these directives.

The Governor, state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has charged traditional rulers in the state on the need to consistently champion communal peace and promote unity among their subjects in their various domains.

Aregbesola also urged the monarchs to expedite actions capable of heralding genuine rapid development as well as foster peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial relationship among the residents in their communities.
Governor Aregbesola gave the advice while presenting the Staff of Office and Instrument of appointment to the new Akinla of Erin-Ijesha, Oba Isaac Adeyeba, in the ancient town of Erin-Ijesha.
The Governor who was represented by the State Secretary to the Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, called for the continuously strengthening of the existing love and unity in the state, saying it remains the only way to actualize the desired progress, growth and development.
He said the development and progress of the society must certainly be prioritized by traditional rulers and other stakeholders in society, just as he charged the monarchs not to rest on their oars at ensuring sustainable transformation.
Governor Aregbesola who described the traditional institutions as an heritage of societal reformation, attitudinal change and moral building, also called on the royal fathers not to relent in their efforts at placing the Yoruba’s values, customs, traditions and culture at the front burner of growth and development in the global community.
Aregbesola further attributed the existing peace and tranquility being enjoyed by his administration to what he described as unflinching support and cooperation received from the citizenry.
While enumerating some of his achievements, Governor Aregbesola said his government has successfully given the state a deserved look and identity as evident in the influx of socioeconomic, political and cultural transformations across the nooks and crannies of the state.
He said the current government had significantly accorded  due recognition to all the traditional institutions, religious institutions as well as the people’s culture, values and traditions since assumption of office.
Advising the new monarch, Governor Aregbesola admonished Oba Adeyeba to be magnanimous in victory and extend hands of love and togetherness to all and sundry.
Governor Aregbesola implored the new traditional ruler to maximize his position in bringing all round development and progress to the ancient town, saying he must not hesitate to fill the seventeen years (17 years) vacuum created after the demise of his predecessor, Oba Adeyinka Adeosun.
He therefore called on the sons and daughters of the town to rally round the new monarch in his bid to pilot the affairs of the town to the greater heights.
In his remarks, Oba Isaac Adeyeba who commended Governor Aregbesola on his giant strides, however expressed profound gratitude to the state government for approving him as the new monarch of the ancient town after seventeen years of royal interregnum.
Oba Adeyeba who promised to consolidate on the efforts of his ancestors, said his reign would bring unprecedented development and progress to the town.
The monarch said his emergence was a new dawn to the people of Erin-Ijesha both at home and in diaspora.
He affirmed on his determination to turn the town to a must-visited world tourist centre in the world, pledging that his reign would leave no stone unturned at showcasing the natural values of the town- (Olumirin Water falls) to the global community for general development and betterment of all.
Oba Adeyeba however promised to support the state government in its bid to maximize the state revenues through sustainable taxation, adding that his office would be used to enforce prompt tax payment among his subjects.
The monarch described taxation as a driven force aiding the policies and programmes of government, stressing that the time has come for all and sundry to demonstrate positive attitude towards taxation.
He therefore sought for cooperation and support from the indigenes and residents of the town, just as he assured peaceful cohabitation of all.
Meanwhile, it would be recalled that Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbeshola approved the appointment of the then Prince Isaac Adeyeba Ayeni as the new Akinla of Erin Ijesha in Ori ade Local Government area of the state, just as his appointment came 17 years, 17 days after the demise of his predecessor, Oba Adeyinka Adeosun.
The 52-year old new monarch however hails from Ayeni Royal family of Osefiri

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local government, Chieftaincy, Water Resources, Rural and Community Affairs, Mr Muftau Oluwadare has charged Council Managers in the state to be agents of change in their duty posts.

The Permanent Secretary gave this charge to day while holding a crucial meeting with the newly appointed Council Managers at the Ministry of Local government conference room.
He then called on them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the government. He stated that the Council Managers should join hands with the revenue generation drive of the government to bail out the Councils from the financial doldrums occasioned by the dwindling revenue from the Federation Account.
Mr Oluwadare advised the Council Managers to discharge their duties with ultimate sense of responsibility and humility.
Also speaking, the Auditor General for Local Governments, Mr Emmanuel Kolapo said Council Managers are Managers managing the public resources and the owners deserve explanations on how the money is utilized.
He advised them to revolutionize the revenue generation in the Local governments saying new ideas need to be introduced into the revenue generation drive.
He called on them to embrace e-transfer adding that information needs to be disseminated easily and cheaply.
The Council Manager of Irewole Local Government, Mr Samson Odewale appreciated the Permanent Secretary and the Auditor General for Local government for the information given to them.

Osun state government has hinted that plans are in top gear to make the state a ceramic training center for students and lovers of ceramic all over the world.

The Director General, Economic Development and Partnership, office of the governor, Mr Charles Akinola, stated this during a visit to Atamora Pottery, Ikire, Osun state.
He disclosed that three Universities have shown interest in partnering with the state in the area of pottery, maintaining that such would fast track the government’s plan for the initiative.
The founder of the pottery, Mr Ibukunoluwa Ayoola, said with the government’s support, the initiative would reduce unemployment in the nation.
Ayoola who frowned at lack of equipment to train students in higher institutions, observed that over 450,000 students are graduating  every year without impact.
Ayoola, an  accountant  turned potter, stated that his aim was to turn the village to a resource centre where students all over the world would come to train.
He encouraged students with potential and interest in pottery to extend their learning beyond classrooms and visit Atamora village for practical learning of ceramic.

Community Leaders in the four town, Iree, Ada Agba and Ororuwo which formed the newly created Boripe North, Local Council Development Area(LCDA) have denied objecting Iree as the headquarters of the council saying those protesting are only promoting “selfish interest”

Leaders from the four communities after a meeting in Iree, the headquarter of Boripe North LCDA to discuss the take off of the new council area urged security agencies to beep their search on “few individuals who want to foment trouble over the development ”
In a joint statement released by the representative of the four communities signed by Prince Adebayo Adeleke from Iree and Chief Amos Idowu, a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) from Agba commended the state Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for the creation of the council.
The communities condemned and dissociated themselves from the position of some leaders who were reportedly protesting Iree as the headquarters of the new LCDA.
According to the statement, choosing Iree was a conscious and diligent decision of committee set up by government in consultation with traditional rulers, public office holders and community leaders to foster desired development and progress.
The statement read “ we all agreed and consciously chose Iree as the headquarter of the new council considering its population, land mast  and economic advantages for the rapid development of the area, we presented this position to the committee, others also presented their own but they found merit and justification in our proposal which informed the choice of  Iree by the government”.
“ Historically, Iree has been made a district office of old Ifelodun Local Government, It is therefore quite unfortunate that some leaders in the community are instigating disharmony by rejecting Iree as the administrative office of the new LCDA, that opposition to us is in bad faith, mischief and attempt to cause crisis among the peace loving people”.
“ We the representatives of the chiefs, community leaders, market men and women, political parties, religious organizations  in Iree, Ada, Ororuwo and Agba therefore commended the state government for the choice of Iree and called on the indigenes to provide necessary support for the take off of the new LCDA.”
“We cannot afford to derail the development of the new council we have been anticipating for years, we are urging the public to discountenance the said protest, it is never in the general interest of the people of Boripe North LCDA”.
The community leaders also appealed to the people to pay their tax and cooperate with the newly appointed Council Manager for the sooth running of the LCDA.

This is contained in a statement by the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperative, Industry and Empowerment announced that on Wednesday, the free train ride would convey people coming for the Easter festival from Lagos to Osogbo on Friday 25 by 10am.
A return train will depart Osogbo to Lagos on Monday, March 28 by 11:00am.
The statement noted that the government did this to ease movements of the people during period of the festivity.
The Government therefore enjoined indigenes of the state to maximise the advantage the free train ride offers them to visit home and enjoy the celebration.

It was gathered that the workers started getting alert from their respective banks on Tuesday evening, ‎bringing to an end, the speculation making the round, about the state government possible failure to pay.
The O'Meal contingent were not to be outdone on the day.
Some civil servants who spoke under the condition of anonymity revealed that the alert of the payment brought to a halt  their fear of not getting paid before Easter celebration.
The workers while praying that the economy of the country improved in no time, appealed to the state Governor, Rauf Aregbesola to continue to make their welfare his priority.
‎They however expressed hope that the payment of salaries for the months of February and March would be paid soon.
There was a speculation at the beginning of the week that the state government may not be able  to pay the salaries of its workforce due to unavailability of fund, following the release of February FAAC, which 6million naira as the remaining revenue for the state.

Mr Najeem Salaam, the Speaker of Osun House of Assembly,  said the assembly would soon review the state criminal law to provide for death sentence for kidnapping in the state.

Salaam, made the remarks in Osogbo on Tuesday  when the newly posted State Commandant of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), Mr Ayodele Olusola, paid a courtesy visit to his office.
The speaker said the review of the law became necessary so as to discourage kidnapping and other associated vices in the state.
According to Salaam, the assembly want to be proactive in making laws that will protect lives and property in the state.
Earlier In his remarks, Mr Ayodele Olusola, the NSCDC, said the command would do all what was needful to protect lives and property before and during the election.
Olusola, also said that the command would continue to execute its mandate of protecting government facilities at all time.
On the April 9, house of assembly  Bye-Election in Ife Central, Salaam urged the NSCDC commandant to provide adequate security  for the electorate  before, during and after the election.
 ” I want to urge you to ensure violence free election.
“We don’t want blood shed before, during and after the election and that is why I am pleading with you to mount surveillance around lfe”.
NAN reports that the proposed Bye-Election  was as a result of   the death of Mr Dejo Makinde,  who represented Ife Central state constituency at the assembly on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
Makinde, who was the minority leader, died on December 2015.
Consequently, the  Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has fixed April 9, for  the Bye-Election.
